GREEN DRAGON ORGANIC FARM AND B&B, Tatamagouche

The B&B features a guest room renovated with natural materials, including a queen-sized bed. The room has a private entrance and access to a shared or private 4-piece bath. The guest room is a non-smoking, pet-free facility. Duvets are of wild silk and filled with duck down, and pillows are made with stone-ground buckwheat hulls. The farmhouse is at least 150 years old, with exposed beams and boards.

A full breakfast is served between 7 and 9 am, with adjustments available upon request the night before. The B&B serves mainly its own organic produce.

Guests can request a guided walk with the Llama or snowshoes. Visitors can learn about organic gardening. Other nearby activities include Ski Wentworth, located 20 minutes away, offering cross-country and downhill skiing. Opportunities to explore local craftsmanship include quilts, baskets, and wooden boxes. Dorje Denma Ling Meditation Centre is also nearby.

Green Dragon Organic Farm and B&B is located 1 km East of the Balmoral Grist Mill Museum on Rte. 256. It is approximately 100 km from Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ), which is about an hour and 15 minutes' drive. By sea, ferry services arrive at Pictou from Prince Edward Island and Sydney, Cape Breton from Newfoundland and Labrador. Directions from Halifax: Take the TCH north to Truro, exit 14A to Tatamagouche onto Rt.311. Travel 3.5 km (2 mi) until the farm sign appears. Nearby landmarks include Balmoral Mills Provincial Park and Balmoral Grist Mill Museum, both 1 km away.

The farm features organic farming and permaculture practices. Green Dragon Organic Farm offers a summer internship from May to September, including room and board. The farm produces over 50 kinds of vegetables. Other products include Green Dragon Venison and Shiitake Mushrooms grown on hardwood logs. The main markets for the produce are the Tatamagouche Farmers Market and the Dorje Denma Ling Meditation Centre, with a smaller market at the Truro Farmers Market.
